News reaching MaaziOnline, has it that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had been declared the authentic winner of the Okigwe APC Senate Primaries.
The Hope Uzodinma backed faction, led by Marcon Nlemigbo, had declared Frank Ibezim as winner, against the initial declaration of Araraume as winner of the prunaties.
With the ruling by the court, and consequential order for INEC to replace Ibezim with Senator Araraume as the candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume would be heading into the Bye-election as the flag bearer of the party.
The Federal High Court, sitting in Owerri, will on Friday, November 6, 2020, expected to pass judgement on a suit challenging the nomination of Frank Ibezim, as candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC for Imo North Senatorial election.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had approached the court, disputing the nomination of Mr. Ibezim as candidate of the party.
He claims to be the authentic candidate of the party for the polls on the grounds that he emerged candidate of the party.
The Court had after proceedings on October 16 adopted briefs of counsels on the matter and reserved judgement for October 27.
The Court did not pass judgement on the said date as the presiding judge was not on sit. The APC Okigwe senate primary had generated controversy as parallel primaries were held.
In the end, the Nlemigbo faction forwarded the name of Frank Ibezim, to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as authentic candidate of the party for the Okigwe Senatorial election.
