What can best be described as confusion has engulfed the political Camp of Frank Ibezim, the candidate of the APC for the Okigwe Zone bye-election which INEC is yet to fix a date for.

While the APC electoral committee for the primaries divided in their assignment following the declaration of two persons, viz, Ibezim and Araraume, by the chairman of the APC electoral committee chairman and the secretary, the leadership of the party after series of meetings, chose Ibezim as their flag bearer, Araraume proceeded to court, where he prayed among others, that the said Ibezim never won the election rather, he did.

The federal High court, Owerri division upon hearing from the two parties had on the 27th of october fixed its judgement which did not come up following the END SARS protest that brokered out across the states of Nigeria.

Same court had on last Friday gave its shocking judgement which declared senator Araraume, winner of the said primaries, hence the party’s candidate.

However, this paper had over the weekend gathered that the least expected judgement of the federal High Court had thrown Ibezim’s camp into confusion

Speaking with Lead, one of members of Ibezim’s camp who would not want his name in print revealed that the said judgement of the last Friday was least expected and as such, has thrown the CAMP into confusion.

He further confided on Lead that the political family of Ibezim is contemplating appealing against the judgement but was still waiting to hear from their apex leader, Emeka Nwajuba to get his nod.

Recall that eleven aspirants, contested for Okigwe APC bye-election primaries.

Before the said primaries, the Governor of Imo state and the leader of the party in the state, Senator Uzodinma, appealed with the contestants to select one amongst themselves as a consensus candidate, an action which if heeded to, would make the party stronger in Okigwe and Imo in general and as such, would save fund for the individual aspirants.

However, this appeal by the Governor was not heeded to and all of the aspirants picked forms and participated in the election.

However, the fear in Ibezim’s camp and APC is whether or not, the court would be able to decide the case, para venture Ibezim moves to Appeal court as expected before the election proper.
