Judiciary Remands Imo Lawmaker In Prison To Uzodinma’s Pleasure, Counsel Alleges

The counsel to the detained Imo Lawmaker, Honourable Heclus Okoro has alleged that Imo State customary court in owerri has remanded his client just to please the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Barr AN Osondu who disclosed this on Monday, while addressing Journalists shortly after the Court sitting at magistrate Court 1, in owerri.
The Admin magistrate, O.D Okoroji listed eight count charges against the Lawmaker who was remanded with other suspects who were accused of bridge of public peace.
The Lawmaker were also accused of fighting his colleague, Amara Iwuanyanwu representing
Nwangele Constituency, who is the deputy speaker of Imo State House Of Assembly.
According to the charges presented before the honourable magistrate Court, it was alleged that Ohaji/Egbema Lawmaker were involved in an offense of causing terror to members of the public, which is a punishable offense According to the criminal code (249 d)
The lawyer said; “I see no reason why my client is reminded in the prison for an alleged bailable offense, this is becoming an anarchy. The integrity of the judiciary is becoming questionable at the pleasure of one man who claims to be the governor of Imo State.
“The said court he is giving instructions of what they should do is the court that brought him as the governor this is a slap to the judiciary and a slap to Ohaji/Egbema Constituency, for holding there Representative.
I was at the imo state police command and the man in charge of the case said that the governor gave an instruction that my client should not be released on bail now by 1 pm we received a call that we are going to court and now the magistrate Court is denying them bail.
This is the worst scenario case I ever have seen a practicing lawyer for nine years” he said.
