Sierra Leone vs Nigeria: What Super Eagles need to qualify for AFCON 2022

On Tuesday evening, Nigeria will take on Sierra Leone in a 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game in Freetown.

The two teams first met four days ago, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo state.

The game famously saw the Super Eagles go 4-0 within the opening 30 minutes, only to draw 4-4 with the Leone Stars.

If Gernot Rohr’s men had won the match, they would have been on the verge of qualification for the tournament.

However, three points against Sierra Leone today, will mean Nigeria go up to 10 points with two matches left.

Irrespective of what happens between Benin and Lesotho earlier in the day, the Eagles cannot finish outside the top two spots, as defeat for the Leone Stars will leave them on three points.
