Okigwe Senate: Has the prophecy against Araraume come to pass?

by admin@maazi.ng

A popular Nigerian prophet and leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele had, some weeks to the Okigwe Senate by-election, prophesied, that the APC candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, would not return to the Senate, rather, the PDP candidate Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu, would emerge victorious in the Okigwe Senate by-election.

Recent legal and political manoeuvres in Okigwe APC, have started tilting to the likeliness that Prophet Ayodele’s prophecy may truly be coming to pass.

The APC primaries, which was marred by irregularities, had INEC declaring Mr. Frank Ibezim as the winner and candidate of the party. Senator Ifeanyi Araraume would however sack Ibezim through two High Court rulings, to emerge candidate of the party.

Barely a day to the election, the Appeal Court would remove Araraume, and replace his name with Ibezim.

However on the same day, in a twist of sorts, another Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, would rule against Ibezim, barring him from contesting in any elections.

With the seeming disqualification of both contending candidates by the courts, the APC went to the election without a candidate.

An Imo Base lawyer, Barr Ihejirika Eze Emeka reacting to the legal impasse, has This To Say;

“…Our Laws Clearly States That A CANDIDATE Must Be Sponsored By A POLITICAL PARTY….
If it is true that the Returning officer declared APC as the winner of the elections instead of a candidate then the declaration MIGHT be a nullity.
Our laws clearly states that a CANDIDATE must be sponsored by a POLITICAL PARTY. There is a combination of party and individual with clear verifiable credentials and qualifications.
A political party is not an individual and individuals can only contest election under the sponsorship of political parties. Under our laws a political party as a body cannot contest elections.
Therefore any declaration of a political party as a winner in any election in Nigeria instead of a candidate running under a political party is an aberration and a big nullity.
My opinion.”

Expectedly, the Imo State PDP, have called on INEC, to declare their candidate, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu winner, since APC had no candidate in the election.

With all these twists to the APC, it seems Ayodele’s prophecy may be coming to pass and Araraume my not return to the Senate, despite being the most popular candidate in the contest.
