Is Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu PDP or APC or where belly face?

This has become a question in the mouths of many people in Imo State, further amplified by the utterances of the former Secretary to the Imo State Govenrment, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha, who labelled Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as a betrayer of Ndi Owerri, during the meeting of Owerri Leaders recently at Egbu.

Iwuanyanwu is supposedly a BOT member of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, but even from the time of former Govenror Rochas Okorocha, Iwuanyanwu have always seemed to play the double game, standing on all sides.

I have been in more than three occasions during the regime of Rochas Okorocha, usually when he is in Okorocha’s presence or the presence of his wife Nkechi Okorocha, and Iwuanyanwu would declare that Rochas Okorocha have done exceptionally well in Imo State.

One began to wonder what Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu meant when he showered praises on a Govenror who owed civil servants and pensioners? One began to wonder what Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a certified civil engineer meant, when he showed praises on a man who cannot boost of a single road in Imo State, and was described by some, as an engineering disaster, since none of his roads lasted up to six months before collapsing.

Today, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha later Senator Hope Uzodinma have started afresh to reconstruct Imo State, after eight wasted years.

I was present at Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s house at Hardel during a meeting in 2014, when Ndaa Ambrose Ejiogu slammed Iwuanyanwu over these same concerns, and Iwuanyanwu’s feeble excise was that he was a leader in the state and as such can attend functions of everybody.

Does being a leader in the state, justify praise singing everywhere he saw the ex-governor and his wife?

Moving forward, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu seems to have transferred that love from Okorocha to Uzodinma, as he had commended Uzodinma over and over, since the Supreme Court made him Govenror of Imo State.

Interestingly, Iwuanyanwu did not condemn the Supreme Court ruling that saw Ihedioha out of office, rather has been in support of Uzodinma since he took over.

Recently, some Owerri zone APC leaders, have organized a reception for Senator Hope Uzodinma, despite the displeasure of the people of the zone, who frown at the fact that Orlu have remained in power for too long, and Iwuanyanwu, who is supposedly a leader of Owerri zone, and of the PDP extraction, is being fingered to chair the occasion.

These developments have made a lot of people, especially those of the PDP, wonder whether Iwuanyanwu is still a member of the party, or whether he is an unofficial APC member.

Others in the state have also wondered, if Iwuanyanwu have become a where belly face politician, who moves with whoever is in power.

It’s no secret that he didn’t support the emergence of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha as Govenror, and his actions since then have proven that fact, a fact which wasn’t lost on Onyeagocha, prompting the very vocal former Federal Representative, to lash out at the octogenarian politician.

If Iwuanyanwu clams to be neutral because he is a leader in the state, his voice should have been heard in the Okigwe Senate impasse.

I was at a function in Isiala Mbano, where I attended with Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, and Iwuanyanwu was full of praises of Araraume, telling the world how he was Araraume’s campaign director in 2011, and was in charge of a massive campaign chest of money.

There, he praised Araraume to high heavens, but it seems Iwuanyanwu’s praises happen only at face value, when he sees a person, after which, he can still praise the person’s enemies.

The name Iwuanyanwu is one name that will take time to die in the minds of Imolites, but it is best to leave a legacy of integrity, than to be tagged as lacking in integrity.
