With the decision of the National Caretaker Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, to dissolve all the party’s structures across the nation, from ward up to the State levels, the battle to gain control of the party in the state has started.
By that action, vacancies have opened up in the party, from the ward level up to the State levels.
In Imo State, some major political heavyweights in the party, are gearing up to grab as much of the now vacant structure as they can.
Senator Hope Uzodinma, Maazi learnt, is doing everything possible at his disposal, to ensure that the composition of the party structure in the State, would be of his own choosing.
Other powerful elements like the former governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu Zone, Rochas Okorocha as well as the APC candidate in the Okigwe Bye-Election, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, are not idle, as they are also strategizing to control the party structure, to help them in their quest in 2023.
Leaving the party totally in Uzodinma’s hands, would cost Okorocha the APC ticket for Orlu Zone, in 2023, as well as put a halt to Araraume’s political aspirations in 2023.
The three men have been locked in a bitter political battle for dominance in the party.
Others who are also involved in the struggle to get as much control in the party as possible, include the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, the former SSG, Sir Jude Ejiogu amongst others.
