Okorocha released as Presidency, Senate, Governors intervene
Authoritative source from within the residence of former Governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu Zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha, have revealed to MaaziTV, that he has been released from Police custody, and now at his Spibat Estate.
The release followed intervention from the Presidency, as well as the Leadership of the Nigerian Senate, the Sultan of Sokoto, as well as eleven Governors led by the Govenror of Kebbi State.
The Presidency, MaaziTV is reliably informed, have mandated the Inspector General of Police, to investigate the attack on and arrest of Senator Rochas Okorocha, and report back to the President.
Okorocha was today attack by thugs, allegedly loyal to Senator Hope Uzodinma, when he attempted to gain entrance into a property owned by his wife, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, which was sealed by the State Govenrment.
He was subsequently arrested after the attack, which left his vehicles destroyed, and taken to the State Police Headquarters.
Okorocha was released at the orders of the IGP, following intervention from the Presidency, Senate Leadership and Governors, but he refused to leave until his associates, who were also arrested, were released with him.
Okorocha’s detained political associates, Hon. Lasbery Okafor-Anyanwu, Ijeoma Igboanusi and Steve Asimobi were promptly released.
Reports reaching MaaziTV, has it that the son-inlaw to the former Governor, is still in the hospital receiving treatment, as he was reportedly shot on his feet by one of the thugs allegedly mobilized by Uzodinma’s Special Assistant on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri.
