Reported Protest Against Ohakim is Fake, Fmr Governor’s lawyer Aloy Ejimakor insists
Aloy Ejimakor Esq, the Legal Counsel to former Govenror of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, has dismissed media reports making the rounds, alleging a protest by Imo women against the former Govenror, branding it as fake news.
A News platform had alleged that some women had protested at the Owerri High Court, demanding the appearance of the former govenror, over accusations leveled against him by a Ms Chinyere , but in his reaction, Aloy Ejimakor dismissed the media reports, stating that his client’s presence was never demanded for by the Owerri High Court yesterday the 16th of March 2021.
Ejimakor stated that Ohakim’s case came up in the FCT High Court, and there, he made appearance.
Speaking to MaaziTV, Aloy Ejimakor Esq stated, “Ohakim appeared at the FCT High Court in Abuja yesterday, 16th March.
“His presence wasn’t required in Court at Owerri.
“So, anybody that claims there was a demonstration in Owerri should explain why they had to demonstrate in Owerri while the matter of their demonstration was being heard in Abuja and Ohakim appeared in there and was duly discharged and acquitted.
“So, any claimed demonstration in Owerri is fake and thus yielded fake news.”
Dr. Ikedi Ohakim was yesterday cleared of charges brought against him by the Inspector General of Police, after investigation revealed that the charges were of malicious intent.
Also, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), could not find any substantive evidence, backing claims made against Dr Ikedi Ohakim by Chinyere Amuchienwa, and recommended a discontinuance of the case against Ohakim, over claims of intimidation and emotional, verbal and psychological harassment made by Amuchienwa.
