The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has directed former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha and National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, to discuss the way forward for the party in Imo State ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The party also ordered for a review of the Presidential campaign council, PCC list, which has been a thorny issue in the state chapter of the party in Imo State.
Former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, was named as Chairman of the Council. More than 90 percent of members of the Council are his loyalists, a development which infuriated the camp of National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The Anyanwu camp had alleged that
the list was unacceptable to it, because it was hijacked by the former Governor.
Ihedioha and Anyanwu are two leading major contenders for the governorship ticket of the PDP in Imo State ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the state.
The NWC in a statement signed by its National publicity Secretary, Debo Olugunagba, said the party will review the Imo State campaign presidential council list and “that the two contending aspirants should have a private meeting and discuss the way forward to ensure a smooth, united and cohesive Presidential, National and State Assembly elections campaign for the 2023 general elections”
It stated “that the Vice-Presidential Candidate should meet with critical leaders for further discussion and resolution of all issues in the Imo State Chapter of our Party”.
It charged all members o the party in Imo State to work together to ensure the victory of the PDP in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
