Open exclusively to Nigerian citizens, this scholarship offers a chance to study in Europe and Asia while gaining world-class education and industry experience. Scholarship offerings for MSc & PhD programmes under the restructured scheme are as follows:

  • Fully funded MSc scholarships will be provided in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
  • Fully funded PhD scholarships will be provided in Germany, France & Malaysia.
  • Fully funded PhD scholarships for the United Kingdom will now be offered exclusively as a Split-Site Programme at the PTDF College of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), in collaboration with three partner universities in the United Kingdom:
    • Robert Gordon University,
    • University of Strathclyde and
    • University of Portsmouth.

Requirements for PTDF Scholarship (Petroleum Technology Development Fund)

To be considered for the Petroleum Technology Development Fund PTDF Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

MSc Requirements

  • Applicants must hold at least a Second Class Upper (2.1) in their first degree, or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience.

  • Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program is required.

  • Candidates must be proficient in computer use.

  • A minimum of five O-level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, is necessary.

  • A statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) must be submitted, outlining the reasons for the chosen course of study, its relevance to the oil and gas industry, and its potential impact on Nigeria’s national development.

  • Applicants must possess a valid National Identity Number (NIN) and must complete the NIMC verification process before submitting their scholarship application (verification fees apply).

PhD Requirements

  • Candidates must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

  • Applicants must be proficient in computer skills.

  • A minimum of five O-level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, is required.

  • A first degree with at least a Second Class Lower (2.2) and a strong postgraduate qualification is necessary.

  • Applicants must submit a research proposal (not exceeding five pages) relevant to the oil and gas sector, including the topic, introduction, objectives, methodology, and data collection methods.
